This south Walton County village, celebrated its 114th anniversary July 4th, 2004, stakes a claim as one of the area's oldest communities.
and is named after Army major, Charles T. Gray, who homestead here in 1885.

Other attractions

Western Lake is one of the dozen or so freshwater lakes in the area that open periodically to the Gulf, providing an abundance of fish and marine life. The lake extends right to the beach and is a favorite place for families with young children, who can swim and play in the shallow lake adjacent the normally calm Gulf surf.

Grayton Beach State Park - This 2,228 acre State park offers rolling sea oat covered dunes with white sand beaches tapering to the emerald green waters of the Gulf. Salt spray and wind pruning, two of natures landscaping tools are seen throughout the gulf front areas of the park.
